Lithium Australia has partnered with Pilbara Minerals Limited (‘PLS’) at its Pilgangoora Li–tantalum project, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The project is close to developed infrastructure, including roads, rail, ports and mining services.
At Pilgangoora, LIT will evaluate the production of Li from the project’s abundant pegmatites, with lepidolite and spodumene constituting a significant Li resource:
- Inferred Resource – 8.6 Mt @ 1.0% Li2O;
- approximately 10% of pegmatites drilled to date.
LIT considers the potential for high tonnage very good, and its work at Pilgangoora will also culminate in a commercial development proposal.
The Pilgangoora lithium hotspot is now host to a number of ASX-listed lithium explorers and substantial lithium resources. Lithium Australia is evaluating lithium mica mineralisation within the area subject of Pilbara Resources’ recently announced JORC Resources.
